JESUS: WHY WAS HE KILLED⁉️ (PART 3)
47 So the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered all the members of the Jewish Council together. They started saying to each other, “What are we going to do about Jesus? He is performing many miracles!
48 If we allow him to keep doing this, everyone will believe ◄in him/that he is the Messiah►, and they will make him their king. Then the Roman army will come and destroy our Temple and our whole nation of Israel!”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The religious Leaders didn't believe in Him as a Messiah or Saviour.
However, they feared that the people might made Him King and that could lead to an insurrection or revolt.
They had heard Jesus speak about a kingdom He wanted to establish.
They didn't know it wasn't a physical kingdom.
So they concluded that its imperative they have Him killed. They didn't want Jesus to ruin the plans of the 'Militant Messiah' they were expecting.
I believed they thought if Jesus wasn't taking out, the Roman Army might wipe them out before the Messiah
they were expecting shows up.
Let's see their conclusion.
Joh 11:50 T4T You do not realize that it would be much better for us if one man died for the sake of the people rather than that the Romans kill all the people of our Jewish nation.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They prefer to have a Man killed in order to save the people till the 'Militant Messiah' shows up.
It was the reason they told Pilate to release Barabbas instead of Jesus.
It would be of a double benefit for them. The First is that their competitor is taking out of the way.
The second is that the nation would not be wiped out by the Romans if they sense an insurrection.
Jesus was a Saviour or Messiah. However, He was killed because of His teachings.
He didn't die as a Messiah. Only few believed Him to be a Messiah.
When He was on the Cross, they taunted or mocked Him to save Himself if He truly was the Messiah
Luk 23:35 T4T Many people stood nearby, watching. And the Jewish leaders ◄made fun of/ridiculed► Jesus, saying, “He said that he saved other people! If he is the Messiah, the one God has chosen, he should save himself!”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jesus' Messianic mission was a subtle one. It had nothing to do with swords or battles.
According to the prophecies hovering over the nation given by prophet Daniel.
It'll be the end of the Jewish age and nation. It'll be a total annihilation of the Jewish race.
That was the reason Jesus came as a Saviour.
To warn and save them from the danger they were about to face.
That was why the Apostles were in a hurry to preach the message of salvation when they understood the
mission and purpose of Jesus.
Paul told some not to marry because of the 'present trouble or crises'.
It was unnecessary.
1Co 7:26 ISV In view of the present crisis, I think it is prudent for a man to stay as he is.
1Co 7:29 ISV This is what I mean, brothers: The time is short. From now on, those who have wives should live as though they had none,
1Co 7:31 T4T Those who are buying things should devote themselves to serving the Lord as much as they would if they did not possess those things. Because this world as it exists now will soon be gone, those who are actively involved in the affairs of this life should not devote all their time to be involved in those things.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can see those assertions, 'present crises', 'time is short', 'this world will soon be gone'.
Every of the Apostle spoke about the end of time or age.
That is, the end of the Jewish age or period.
It was the reason they wanted as many to be saved to preserve the Jewish lineage.
When they were comfortable, the 'Lord God' stirred up persecutions against them to make them flee except the Apostles.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Luk 21:20 T4T “But when you see that Jerusalem has been surrounded by the armies of your enemies, you will know that it is time for this city to be completely destroyed { them to completely destroy this city}.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Those that believed in Jesus (in His words) were saved from the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple.
Daniel had prophesied about the destruction.
Dan 9:26 T4T After those 434 years, the leader/king whom God has appointed will be killed when it seems that he will have accomplished nothing◄unjustly/without having done anything wrong►. After that, the temple will be destroyed by the army of a powerful ruler. The city and the temple will be destroyed like a flood destroys everything. That will be the beginning of the war and destruction that God has decreed will happen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Daniel warned them explicitly that both the temple and Jerusalem would be destroyed.
However, as adamant as their predecessors, they believe the Messiah would save them from the troubles, desolation and destruction.
Those that heeded to the warnings and teachings of Jesus Christ were saved from the destruction.
According to extra biblical records, they fled to a place called 'pella'. While those that remained in the city were killed and scattered over face of the Earth.
It was after 40 years Jesus died that the destruction happened to them.
It's the history of AD 70 of the Jews. You can google and read up online.
Millions of people were killed. That the sea turned into blood.
Bodies were burnt incessantly signifying the Lake of fire John saw in Revelation.
Everything Jesus said would happen to them in Matthew 24 happened to that generation.
They were wiped off the face of the Earth.
For thousands of years, the nation of Israel was not on the Map. It was regarded as Palestine.
That is, from AD 70 till 1948.
The destruction totally obliterated them off the face off the Earth.
Until 1948 when they fought with the help of the US Army, Britain and the UN to reclaim their land.
Israel became a nation after the sixth day of the war. They rested on the seventh day.
And they had their lands back to worship Yahweh their God once again.
So this concludes the series of 'why He was killed.' The next series will be on 'why He had to die.'
The former had to do with the reason the Leaders had him killed, the latter the reason Jesus Himself had to die.
In the new series, I'll explain and expose explicitly the things I've discussed shortly above.
The misconceptions of the Messianic purpose and mission of Jesus Christ.
The impact of His death and resurrection on the Jews and Gentiles.
Truths according to the Bible about those who are regarded as the true Gentiles.
