JESUS: WHY WAS HE KILLED⁉️ (PART 2)

Jesus had a reason why He had to die.. Why He had to be crucified or nailed on the cross.
He was sent as a Saviour or Messiah of the Jews. He being a Saviour was outside the context of what the Jews were expecting at that time.
His purpose or mission as a Messiah was to rescue the Jews from the bondage of the Law and the impending danger they were about to face.

I mean, the destruction of the temple and Jerusalem.
That was the whole Matthew 24 discourse.
It's so saddening that preachers still think that that chapter is a continuum.
It has been fulfilled. It has nothing to do with us.
However, they didn't kill Him because He was the Messiah or He claimed to be their Saviour.
According to the religious Leaders, they crucified a heretic, a deviant.

Jesus didn't fit into the type or version of a Messiah or Saviour they were expecting.
In fact, if they had seen Him as a Messiah or Saviour, they wouldn't have had Him killed.
They killed Him in ignorance.
Out of jealousy.
As Paul, the Apostle said,

1Co 2:8 LOGOS which none of the rulers of this age understood (for had they understood, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory).
--------—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Jesus was before Pilate.. He asked them the reasons why they wanted Him crucified.
According to Him, when he examined Jesus, he had no fault with Him.
Matter of fact, Jesus didn't bother them. They didn't see Him as a threat.
If they had, they (the Romans) would have had Him killed.
They saw only a religious teacher with many followers or audience.
To them, as long as He's not trying to stir riot or usurp the throne.
They were cool with Him.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Luk 23:2 LOGOS And they began to accuse Him, saying, "We found this Man perverting the nation, and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ, a King."

Luk 23:4-5 LOGOS

4 But Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, "I find no guilt in this Man."

5 But they insisted, saying, "He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to here."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I believe you can see the accusations presented against Jesus by the Jews.
They hated Him because of His message or teachings.
He was perverting the nation. Teaching what is contrary to the Laws of Moses.
They didn't say because He claimed to be a Saviour or Messiah.
It was because of the truths or His teachings that they wanted Him dead.

The version of Messiah they were expecting wasn't suppose to be a religious teacher. He was suppose to be a Military person.
Since He didn't fit into the narrative.. And He was perverting the nation with His teachings.
It's better to have Him killed till the Messiah they were expecting comes.

Even the disciples, after following Jesus for three years, they were still expecting a transition.
Probably, they had thought His first phase was to teach.
After resurrection, He'd lead them into battle against the Romans.
Hence, their question in the book of Acts.

Act 1:6 BBE So, when they were together, they said to him, Lord, will you at this time give back the kingdom to Israel?

Act 1:6 T4T One day when the apostles met together with Jesus, they asked him, “Lord, will you now become the King over us Israelite people like King David, who ruled long ago?” (OR, “Lord, will you now defeat the Romans and restore the kingdom to us Israelite people?”)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They were still expecting the military phase of Jesus' Ministry.
At the end of His ministry, He told them to get swords.
They must have thought He was ready to commence the insurrection.
That He teaching was just a disguise.

Luk 22:36 BBE And he said to them, But now, he who has a money-bag, or a bag for food, let him take it: and he who has not, let him give his coat for money and get a sword.

Luk 22:38 BBE And they said, Lord, here are two swords. And he said, It is enough.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When they came to arrest Jesus in the midnight at the garden of Gethsemane, the disciples thought it was time, the beginning of the revolution.
They thought Jesus had them get the swords so that they would start a revolt or insurrection that night.

Immediately, Peter cut off the ear of one the servants that followed them. They were ready to fight.
And Jesus rebuked Him. And they saw Jesus surrendered willingly to the soldiers.
They all fled. They had been defeated.
The revolt wasn't successful.

I believe it was the reason Judas betrayed Jesus. He thought when He leads them to Jesus.
A war would begin. And will commence the revolution of their time.
And Jesus would be unstoppable because He was full of miracles and strange manifestations.
He thought He'd make money off the religious Leaders.
Believing that Jesus would escape one way or the other.
Afterwards, when He saw that Jesus was 'powerless'. He didn't do anything.
He was shocked and overwhelmed with guilt.
Hence, He killed himself.

Mat 27:3 ULT Then when Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus had been condemned, he repented and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They had seen Jesus do great and mighty things. They believed the Lord God Yahwey was on their side.
And the revolt would be a success.
They were expecting Jesus to perform a kind of miracle that would shake the nation.
And cause deliverance for the Jews.

It was the reason Peter followed behind. He was still expecting a sign or something to happen.
And it was the reason He had that boldness when he said that He wouldn't deny Jesus.
When He saw that nothing happened. Jesus was just there ordinary as a Man.
He had to deny Him. He feared for His life that He might be seen as an insurrectionist or usurper.

And the same reason He took Jesus aside and began to protest that the things Jesus said would not happen to Him.
He couldn't bear the idea of the Messiah being tortured, beaten and killed by those in authority.
As far as His concerns for Jesus, He wasn't meant to die.
Till He delivered them from the hands of the Romans.

The Jews were expecting a Messiah. They needed a Saviour to deliver them from the Romans.
Few saw Him as the Messiah.
Many didn't acknowledge Him as a Saviour.
The few that acknowledged were expecting something different.

Jesus was killed because He was a religious teacher that was perverting the nation.
He wasn't killed because He was seen as a Saviour or claimed to be a Messiah.
He suffered because He was an enlightened Man.
He taught against the status quo.
And was at loggerheads with the religious Leaders of His time.

  1. Wow. This is full of light. It's Judas part for me. Religion never got anything right. I nearly cried for Judas reading this, seeing the reason he had to kill himself. Thanks sir, indeed their expectations were a Messiah who will deliver them from the hands of the Romans.
